How to arrive at Cala Barril
How to arrive at Cala Barril
From Es Mercadal
It is preferable to access El Mercadal from the easternmost roundabout, from the first we find from Mahón, as at these roundabouts we will see signs to the beaches ('playas'). Just surround Es Mercadal on the East side, by the roundabouts, until you reach Camí de Tramontana.
Camí de Tramontana
We will follow the paved road; at the junctions we wil see signs to the different northern beaches. In our case, we will continue towards Binimel.la.
Detour towards Pegonda or Binimel.la
We will get to a detour, a very wide gravel road with signs indicating "Pregonda and Platja de Binimel.la". After 1.5km we will reach a restaurant which is near Binimel.la where there is space for a hundred cars on the road verges.
Camí de Cavalls
After parking, reach Binimel.la beach, continue along the coastline towards our left. Go past Cales Mortes, Pregondó, Pregonda, continue along Camí de Cavalls through a forest and cross a paved road (where Camí de Cavalls continues). Just immediately after crossing the paved road we will see Cala Barril. From the parking we have to walk for about 3 km..
